Tales of Hoffmann - National Ballet of Japan February 2024

We are delighted to announce that the Noriko Ohara and Kenn Burke will be producing Peter Darrell's "Tales of Hoffmann" for the National Ballet of Japan at the New National Theatre, Tokyo, on the 23rd, 24th and 25th February, 2024

ROBIN ANDERSON 1931 – 2023

It is with sadness that we report the death on June 29th of Robin Anderson, one of the trustees of the Peter Darrell Trust.

Robin was born on January 26th,1931, to father James and mother Irene in Dunfermline, Scotland. He was the eldest of three brothers, Alistair and Ian following four and fourteen years later, respectively. Robin and Alistair attended Canmore Primary and Dunfermline High Schools.

Reception to mark gift of sculpture

sculptureThe following is an extract from a talk which was given by Rob Foxcroft, Chair of the Peter Darrell Trust, at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery on 31st March 2023. The reception was given by the Peter Darrell Trust to mark the trust’s gift to the gallery of a bronze sculpture of Peter Darrell by artist Alison Murray Wells.

"Well, here he is! What a beautiful work Alison Murray Wells has made! When we look at this bronze head, I’m sure that each of us is washed over by a flood of memories.

Peter Darrell takes his place in the National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh

The Peter Darrell Trust is delighted to announce that a bronze bust of the late Peter Darrell CBE has been given by The Peter Darrell Trust to the National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.

Peter was the founder of the Scottish Ballet, its Artistic Director for many years, its leading choreographer, and a great man of the theatre. He was internationally respected and very widely loved. He was important both as a choreographer and as a theatrical director. He had rare gifts of inspiration and psychological understanding. In all his work, he drew upon a deep knowledge of all matters theatrical. He had a genius for telling a story through dance.
