Rambart
Dance Company
to perform Five Rückert Songs
at 2004 Edinburgh Festival
Thursday 2nd Saturday 4th September,
7.30pm The Edinburgh Playhouse
As part of a performance at The Edinburgh Playhouse entitled 'Mahler
and Dance' Rambert Dance Company will be presenting Peter Darrell's
Five Rückert Songs choreographed in 1978.
In this beautiful work from the founder of Scottish Ballet a woman,
disenchanted with the glamorous but passing pleasures of her life,
finds inner peace.
Gustav Mahler's song cycles explore the extremes of human emotion.
In this unique Festival project, three of Mahler's song cycles are
performed by Rambert Dance Company, two major singers and the Royal
Scottish National Orchestra.
The performance lasts about 2 hours and comprises the following
three song cycles:
| |
Dark Elegies,
Five Rückert Songs,
Songs of a Wayfarer, |
choreographed by Antony Tudor
choreographed by Peter Darrell
choreographed by Kim Brandstrup |
These are the only performances of this programme, which has been
created specially for the 2004 Edinburgh Festival.
