The premire performance of the Third Peter
Darrell Choreographic Award winning entries by Victor Quijada
and Beth Cassani took place on the 20th of February 2003
in the Dundee rep Theatre.
The 2003 Award could not have taken place without the generous
support of the Scottish
Arts Council National Lottery Fund and we are proud that this
Award, commemorating the work of Peter
Darrell, has been recognised as making such a valuable contribution
to emerging choreography in the UK.
The Trust would also thank the many other organisations and individuals
who have supported the Award and enabled us to stage this event.
Particular thanks must go to the Award judges, Janet Smith and Kim
Brandstrup. Also to the dancers and staff at Scottish
Dance Theatre and the students at the Scottish
School of Contemporary Dance at Dundee College and the Centre
for Professional Dance Training at Edinburgh's Telford College.
We are immensely grateful for all their input.
Finally, and certainly not least, we would like to thank and congratulate
the winners of the 2003 Peter Darrell Trust Choreographic Award,
Victor Quijada and Beth Cassani, and we wish them every success
in their future careers.
Without the support of an award from the Scottish
Arts Council National Lottery Fund, as well as grants and donations
from many other organisations and individuals, the Peter
Darrell Choreographic Award would have remained but a dream,
and we are immensely grateful to everyone who has contributed to
its creation and success.
